Tap Water Iontophoresis Device for Hyperhidrosis SweatStop® Iontophoresis is a direct current (DC) therapy device with pulsed and constant DC for tap water iontophoresis (TWI) used to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). During this process, the nerves are exposed to weak electrical impulses, which calms them down and in turn reduces sweat production. In tap water iontophoresis, two basins are filled with water, and each is fitted with an electrical conductor. The hands or feet are then immersed in the water bath and exposed to a weak direct current; they act as the electrical conductor that completes the circuit through the body. When used on the underarms, water-soaked sponge pads are used instead of water basins.A lower current strength usually brings about satisfactory results quickly; excessive current strengths aren't necessary. Treatment initially takes place daily, and once effective, every 1-3 days, lasting 20 minutes each time. Initial treatment success is usually seen after just a few applications.
